William L. Smith - Pastor for Bible Study

William L. Smith

Pastor for Bible Study

Pastor Smith was born into a family steeped in the Roman Catholic tradition in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1980, he was captivated by an "end of time" sermon series on the Great Controversy. During that same period, William was also influenced by his brother-in-law, Pastor Melvin Janey (currently pastoring in the Northeastern Conference), regarding the Third Angel‚s Message. Both events compelled William to fully accept the Gospel and embrace the doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church through baptism at the Edmondson Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.

Within a year of his baptism, William felt a call from God to pursue the gospel ministry. Shortly thereafter, he and his family relocated to Huntsville, Alabama where he attended Oakwood College. After graduating from Oakwood in the area of Bible Instructorship, the Allegheny East Conference of Seventh-day Adventist offered him a position as a Bible Instructor at the Sharon Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church in Wilmington, Delaware and surrounding areas. He gladly accepted and began the work of leading souls to Christ.

Over the last 18 years in the ministry, Pastor Smith has been responsible for baptizing over 600 souls. He has participated in and conducted over 15 crusades, taught numerous Soul-Winning Classes and developed his own Bible Study Course. Currently, he is in the process of designing a Soul-Winning Manual which will be employed as a training tool for those who want to administer Bible studies to baptismal candidates.

In his current post at Community Praise Center, Pastor Smith continues to develop and implement programs with the express purpose of carrying out the Great Commission: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19 The driving force behind Pastor Smith is his sincere love for Christ and his passion for teaching the Word. He seizes every opportunity to utilize his spiritual gifts and stand as a "defender of the faith" In an effort to further develop his spiritual gifts to serve, he is now pursuing his Masters in Divinity.

Pastor William L. Smith fills many roles: a loving husband to Yvonne, devoted father to William Jr. and Aaron, a loyal friend to many, a Bible Instructor, and most important - a servant of God.
