About Angela: For Angela Bryant-Brown, praise and worship is more than a style of music. It is what she does in response to God’s presence in her life. Her desire is that the music she shares will move others to recognize the awesomeness of God and praise Him in their own lives. Her passion for worship has led her to become a vibrant praise leader and prolific songwriter. Her original songs have ushered many congregations into the presence of God. We chatted with Angela over e-mail about her musical history.
When did you first remember singing?
7 YEARS OLD
What gospel artist inspired you the most growing up and who inspires you now?
Sandi Patti did when I was younger and CeCe Winans and Donnie McClurkin do today.

What are some of the advantages of being an independent artist?
It allows you to have control over your project. You can make the choice to let the Spirit lead and not lead the Spirit, like with most major label deals.
Do you get nervous before you minister?
YESSSSSSS!!!!! My stomach gets butterflies and my knees get weak. If you look really closely you will see my hands shake.
Where do you see Christian music headed in the years to come?
I see it heading back to where it started. . .ROOTED IN THE WORD and stripped back down to the raw truth! It has gotten away from that. There is too much fluff in and on it. You have to scrape, dig and dive deep in some of the music to get the gospel message out of it (if it is even in there). As we get closer to God and preparing for the finale of this great controversy, we will get back to the basics. . .the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, or help us God!
How do you balance family life with your career?
Prayerfully. It takes conscious effort to remember God’s hierarchy: God-spouse-children-others. When I lose sight of that life becomes chaotic and out of sync. I stay prayed up and I have a spiritual mentor (a wife in ministry too) who holds me accountable.
How long have you been an independent artist?
Since 2004
With what Christian artist would you most like to sing or perform?
Donnie McKlurkin
What is your inspiration for writing a new song?
It varies. Sometimes whatever I am experiencing inspires me to write. Sometimes it just hits me and I just write it. Like that old song, “I’m gonna move when the Spirit says move” accept it’s “I’m gonna write when the Spirit says write”.
How did you feel when you heard your music for the first time on the radio?
IT WAS AMAZING!!!! It is one thing to have a CD and to have friends have it and promote you. It is a whole other thing to have strangers all over an area or region listening. You only pray that they are truly blessed and will remember you after the music stops.
Based on this month's Worship Theme, how has God revealed Himself to you in this way? Does any incident or story come to mind?
God being my Jehovah is that He is Almighty. There is no other power. . .period! Jehovah has revealed this aspect of His character to me in many ways but one way that stands out the most is when He saved my life from the hands of a mad man. He miraculously moved the hand of a man holding a gun pressed at the back of my head and just when He pulled the trigger, God moved his hand so that the bullet passed by my ear and into the wall. Now that is a mighty God! God is awesome and He is ever protecting His children.
