A Precious Trust.--Children are committed to their parents as a precious trust, which God will one day require at their hands.
"Remember that your sons and daughters are younger members of God’s family. He has committed them to your care, to train and educate for heaven. You must render an account to Him for the manner in which you discharge your sacred trust." (Adventist Home p 161)
"Parents, if you fail to give your children the education that God makes it your duty to give them, both by precept and example, you must answer to your God for the results." (Adventist Home p. 172)
"In His wisdom the Lord has decreed that the family shall be the greatest of all educational agencies. It is in the home that the education of the child is to begin. Here is his first school. Here, with his parents as instructors, he is to learn the lessons that are to guide him throughout life- lessons of respect, obedience, reverence, self- control. The educational influences of the home are a decided power for good or for evil. They are in many respects silent and gradual, but if exerted on the right side, they become a far reaching power for truth and righteousness. If the child is not instructed right here, Satan will educate him through agencies of his choosing." (Adventist Home p. 182)
There is no more important field of effort than that committed to the founders and guardians of the home. No work entrusted to human beings involves greater or more far-reaching results than does the work of fathers and mothers. (Adventist Home P. 182)
"If you desire the angels to do for your children the work given them of God, cooperate with them by doing your part…brought up under the wise and loving guidance of a true home, children will have no desire to wander away in search of pleasure and companionship." (Adventist Home p193)
